The Spaten Helles is definitely a full flavor beer with some mellow hops, giving it an overall herb-ish quality. It’s surprisingly refreshing and sharp though with a little bit of citrus floating around in the background.
This Mayer’s Helles beer has a very toasted grains flavor, that’s the main feature. There is a bit of lime rind in the aftertaste but not as strong as some other brands. I’d say it has a strong flavor overall but it’s kind of a one-note taste. It isn’t bad though and one of the better Mayer beers I’ve tried.
